make it harder!
5) the Amador Valley High School pool is small and already can't
accommodate the swim team, dive team and water polo teams.
Foothills pool is also used for the additional water sports. Those
school pools are full even with the PLS swimmers practicing at the
DBAC pool all year around and swimming at the races for the high
schools during swim season. If the DBAC was to close- the PLS
swimmers would be forced to practice at the school pools- that
would then force out the less advanced swimmers that currently only
swim during swim team season- this is a true disservice! All
students that want to be in the water- learning and growing and
participating on a school team- should be afforded the opportunity to
do that!
6) the camaraderie and sportsmanship that is learned and cultivated
as a swimmer on a competitive all year swim team - are lessons
and skills that make the leaders of tomorrow!
7) swimming, unlike most other sports, is naturally supportive of
children with intellectual disabilities- autism, ADD/ADHD, etc. This
sport allows them to swim their own race- learn and grow without
"letting a team down". The physical activity is so beneficial to their
emotional health! And beating their old time is beneficial to their
mental health. Again, the pool services ALL people of our community!
8) what do bored children do? They get into trouble! Closing the pool
will have a negative impact on recreation and physical activity of our
youth and our community as a whole! Keep these kids in the water
and out of trouble!
The water doesn't care if you are young or old, what color your skin
is, what your athletic ability is, what your disability is- it accepts ALL!
This facility serves our WHOLE community! Please close our pool!
-Keep striving for a better tomorrow—
