<br />65 <br /> <br />J. Individuals may be awarded voluntary shift fill for any portion of a 24-hour <br />shift unless they have indicated their availability otherwise in staffing. <br /> <br />NOTE: This does not prevent mandatory assignment for additional <br />hours <br />K. Additional vacancies occurring under 6 days, will be filled using the <br />procedure outlined above with the following exceptions: <br /> <br />1. Individuals assigned fewer hours than the vacancy(s) needing filled, who <br />indicated their availability, will be assigned the shift(s) with the greater <br />number of hours. <br />2. Mandatory Assignments will continue to be assigned on a rotational basis, <br />using the mandate list. Upgrades will not occur unless it is necessary to <br />prevent rule breaks. <br />3. Vacancies occurring 37 hours or less to the operational period will be filled <br />using the same algorithm outlined above; however, the first person contacted <br />shall be awarded the shift(s). <br />L. Promotions/ Long-Term Acting (ABC): <br /> <br />A newly promoted Battalion Chief will be assigned a selection factor <br />commensurate with the highest factor in their perspective rank or <br />classification, plus (I) one hour. A Captain assigned to a long-term acting <br />assignment shall have their factor assigned as outlined above. Their factor in <br />their respective rank will be locked. Upon returning to their rank all hours <br />worked in the acting assignment will be added to their respective rank factor. <br /> <br />M. Finding Relief- Personnel may find relief for all, or part of their assigned shift(s), <br />provided they follow the following procedure: <br />1. Contact personnel who have indicated their availability, who have been <br />assigned fewer hours than the shift being offered; acceptance is voluntary. <br />2. Contact personnel who have indicated their availability, who have not yet <br />been assigned shift fill - acceptance is voluntary. <br />3. Contact any remaining personnel within the rank - acceptance is voluntary. <br />4. Contact any Battalion Chief candidates on an active promotional list in rank order of <br />the list. <br />5. Contact Deputy Chiefs - acceptance is voluntary. <br /> <br />N. Mandatory Shift Fill Relief: <br />1. Contact personnel within the rank - acceptance is voluntary. <br />2.
