<br />Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br />Package/Pricing as of July 2025 <br /> Pleasanton Police Department personnel will conduct the Pre-Employment Interview to <br />determine the suitability of the candidate. If it is determined a background investigation is <br />warranted, DEX Background Investigations (DEXBGI) will complete the background <br />investigation. <br />The cost for this service is a flat fee of $2000.00 for Peace Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher, <br />and/or professional staff. The rate will increase by $100 effective for invoices dated, sent, and/or <br />billed after January 1, 2027. The increase will apply to invoices dated, sent, and/or billed after <br />January 1 of each year after the first full year of the contract. <br />a. File Assignment/Applicant Assessment: Upon assignment of the background investigation, <br />DEXBGI will contact the applicant. DEXBGI will discuss expectations during the <br />investigation, assess the required documents for the investigation, and make arrangements <br />for an interview. Any potentially derogatory/disqualifying information disclosed in the <br />applicant’s documents will be reported to the Pleasanton Police Department. If the <br />department determines the applicant is disqualified/not selected or the applicant withdraws <br />before the interview, a $250 fee will apply. <br />b. Preliminary Investigation: After interviewing the applicant, DEXBGI will provide a summary <br />of disclosures, admissions, and other relevant information pertaining to the background <br />investigation. Many departments use this opportunity to re-evaluate the applicant and decide <br />to move forward with the applicant or disqualify/not select the applicant. If the applicant is <br />disqualified or not selected to move forward, the minimum fee will be $900. The fee will <br />increase annually by $25 after the first full year of the contract. If the investigation is <br />authorized to continue, the flat fee will apply. <br />c. DEXBGI will charge the current IRS Standard Mileage Rate per mile for routine travel during <br />investigations. The travel included is for neighborhood checks, contact of employers, file <br />reviews, etc. Reimbursement will be sought at the conclusion of the investigation. This <br />mileage reimbursement rate is an industry standard. <br />d. DEXBGI has the discretion to charge for itemized expenses. Examples would include, but <br />are not limited to, shipping and handling of documents, copies of case files, fuel for trips over <br />50 miles one-way, and parking or bridge tolls. <br />e.
