CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING AGENDA PACKET

RESOLUTION NO._____ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON REVISING THE LIBRARY MATERIALS RECOVERY POLICY WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton Library Materials Recovery Policy establishes procedures for the management and recovery of library materials to ensure responsible use of City resources and equitable service to the community; and WHEREAS, under the current policy, library members may receive a refund of replacement costs, minus a processing fee, if a lost item is returned in good condition within 90 days of payment, with the exception of LINK+ items; and WHEREAS, processing such refunds is resource-intensive and provides minimal community benefit due to the low average cost of each item; and WHEREAS, the proposed policy revision ensures the sustainable and efficient use of City resources while maintaining equity for patrons through existing practices to allow time to locate missing items. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: Section 1. The Materials Recovery Policy is revised as set forth in Exhibit A. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on September 16, 2025.
