SHC Tri-Valley East Wing Hospital Addition Design Review Application – Project Narrative TAYLOR DESIGN – 6370.101 12 ACCESS AND PARKING SITE ACCESS There are currently five driveways that provide access to the site. The main access for the public to the hospital complex is located on the north side of W. Las Positas Boulevard. The driveway from this access point culminates in a circular drive and passenger drop-off area. The passenger drop-off area provides immediate access to the arcade breezeways connecting to the main hospital entrance, medical office buildings and existing Emergency Department. Additional access points are located at Owens Drive, Santa Rita Road and two access points along Andrews Drive. The northern access road at Andrews Drive provides access to the hospital’s existing loading area for service and deliveries as well as waste removal. This project will not add to or alter any of the existing access points. Existing monument signs and directional signage will not be modified as part of this project. On-site vehicular traffic is channeled around the hospital and medical office buildings via a loop road allowing for emergency vehicle access around the site. PARKING Existing surface parking lots at the south, west and east sides of the site will not be modified and are not a part of this project. Existing Emergency Department parking spaces and Staff / Emergency Department spaces displaced by the new east wing hospital addition and ring road reconfiguration will be relocated to the north end of the existing staff and emergency department parking lot (Parking Lot G) and west of the proposed ambulance parking area resulting in a net zero change in total parking spaces pr ovided on the site.
