Existing tractor roads that do not require reconstruction, or
b. New tractor roads flagged by the project proponent prior to the
treatment activity
3. Prescribed herbivory treatments would not be used in areas with over
50 percent slope
This SPR applies to all treatment activities and all treatment types, including
treatment maintenance.
SPR GEO-8 Steep Slopes
The project proponent would require a RPF or licensed geologist to evaluate
treatment areas with slopes greater than 50 percent for unstable areas (areas
with potential for landslide) and unstable soils (soil with moderate to high
erosion hazard). If unstable areas or soils are identified within the treatment
area, are unavoidable, and would be potentially directly or indirectly affected by
the treatment, a licensed geologist (P.G. or C.E.G.) would determine the potential
for landslide, erosion, of other issue related to unstable soils and identity
measures (e.g., those in SPR GEO-7) that would be implemented by the project
proponent such that substantial erosion or loss of topsoil would not occur.
