City of Pleasanton—Additional Housing Sites Rezonings Project
Addendum CEQA Guidelines Section 15164 Addendum

76
ii) Strong Seismic Ground Shaking
Summary of Prior FEIR
Refer to the summary under Impact VII(a)(ii).
Proposed Project Analysis and Conclusion
The Calaveras, Hayward, and San Andreas Faults are most likely to produce
high levels of ground shaking at the proposed sites. In the case of a
significant earthquake, “violent” or “severe to violent” ground shaking is
expected to occur throughout the City, including at the proposed sites.
The General Plan and Municipal Code include policies and programs to
protect residents within the City from seismically induced hazards associated
with strong seismic ground shaking. Additionally, Municipal Code Chapter
17.12 requires the consideration of geologic hazards when considering
applications and permits for new real estate developments or structures for
human occupancy.
Compliance with applicable General Plan regulations, Municipal Codes, and
CBC would ensure that the future development projects within the proposed
sites are thoroughly analyzed for seismic hazards and constructed to
withstand strong seismic ground shaking. Therefore, impacts would be less
than significant, and the proposed project would not result in a new or more
severe adverse impact that was not previously identified and disclosed in the
Prior FEIR. No further analysis is required.
iii) Seismic-related Ground Failure, Including Liquefaction
Summary of Prior FEIR
Refer to the summary under Impact VII(a)(ii).
Proposed Project Analysis and Conclusion
According to the Association of Bay Area Governments/Metropolitan
Transportation Commission (ABAG/MTC) Hazard Viewer Map, none of the
proposed sites are within areas that are at risk of landslides or liquefaction.4
Despite the lack of risk to these sites, future on-site development would be
required to comply with applicable CBC, Municipal Code requirements, and
the General Plan in order to protect structures from potential future landslide
and/or liquefaction risk. Therefore, impacts would be less than significant,

4 Association of Bay Area Governments/Metropolitan Transit Commission (ABAG/MTC).
