2026 PLEASANTON BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN MASTER PLAN | 57
RECOMMENDED NETWORK IMPROVEMENTS
Pedestrian Network Recommendations
Pedestrian recommendations focus on filling critical sidewalk gaps and improving crossings along the Focus Network that provide
access to schools, parks, transit, employment centers, and other destinations.
Sidewalk Improvements
The sidewalk recommendations focus on completing missing segments where gaps interrupt otherwise continuous pedestrian
routes (shown in Figure 13). Along the Focus Network, three sidewalk gaps are recommended for construction:
• Stoneridge Drive, 380’ east of Denker Drive to Hopyard Road (south side): Install sidewalk to fill gap and connect points east
of the gap to the trail connection just west of Denker Drive
• Stoneridge Mall Road, north/east of Canyon Way to Laurel Creek Way (inner/west side): Install sidewalk
• W Las Positas Boulevard, where it crosses over the I-680 freeway (south side): Install Class I shared-use path on south side.
(Bike improvement project #11)
Projects at the following four sidewalk gaps are not recommended at this time because of feasibility constraints or limited benefit
relative to available pedestrian access on the opposite side of the street:
• Bernal Avenue adjacent to Alameda County Fairgrounds (north side): There is no public frontage nor access to destinations
along the missing sidewalk.
• Foothill Road (west side) adjacent to undeveloped land: Rather than installing sidewalks, which may be infeasible along unde-
veloped land, consider installing crosswalks with appropriate traffic control at entrances to residential neighborhoods west of
Foothill Road.
• Santa Rita Road, from Old Santa Rita Road to I-580 (east side): For most of this segment, there are no destinations to access
on the east side.
• Stoneridge Drive between Stoneridge Mall Road and 380’ east of Denker Drive (south side): This is where Stoneridge Drive
crosses over the freeway and there are many on/off ramps in this segment and no destinations along it.
