Please consider my comments as strongly as if I had been there, as I have a great interest in
the matter.

I attended the Mamh Youth Commission and the Planning Commission meeting the same night, and
have spoken at the two most recent City Council meetings in an effort to show that our city has a great
need for at least eight more lighted tennis courts.

The substance of my research shows that although there are 34 tennis courts in Pleasanton, most of
these are on school property and are not lighted. In addition, they are off limits to public use when
school is in session, and the high school courts are reserved for school team practice after
school during Spring time. In addition, the Amador tennis courts are located within the locked campus
perimeter, so are not available on weekends unless a separate school activity has the campus open.
The key issue is however, that even in the limited times these school courts are available, they are not
lighted, so working, tax-paying adults and teens who want to play during their evening leisure time are
unable to do so.

The City has six courts, four in Muirwood and two in Fairlands, that are in parks and open to the public.
They are not lighted either, and with their locations being in residential neighborhood, lighting them is

4/18/2005
