Response:
The Fairgrounds is located north of Bernal Avenue, more than 1000 feet from the
potential amphitheatre and the baseball diamonds (as referenced in Comment C26),
The attenuation provided by distance between the Fairgrounds and the amphi.
theatre/baseball fields and the anticipated acoustical shielding provided by Phase II
buildings (including the cultural arts center) would significantly reduce noise levels
experienced at the Fairgrounds from amplified events, Sounds generated by
amplified events in these areas would be in context with sounds generated during
activities located at the Fairgrounds and would not typically be audible above traffic
noise along Bernal Avenue and local streets or local noise generated by Fairground
activities, Therefore, sound generated by Bernal Community Park activities would not
be anticipated to substantially impact events or activities at the Fairgrounds,

C 26 Comment:
It is anticipated that amplified sound will be allowed at sporting activities, particularly
at the baseball diamonds, The DEIR does not address how such sound might impact
concerns, events, or activities at the Fairgrounds,

Response:
See Response C25,

C 27 Comment:
The DEIR notes a significant project and cumulative impact on agricultural lands,
Since there appears to be no reasonable manner in which to replace the agricultural
land that was previously farmed, all possible steps should be taken to keep the.
community in touch with its rich agricultural heritage, Patterson Ranch in Fremont is
an excellent example of how the local agricultural heritage of an area can be
preserved in an educational manner. To preserve a similar education opportunity,
the following is respectfully recommended,

a, The concept of setting aside acreage for the support of local 4-H and FFA projects
is meritorious and should become an approved component of the project.

b, The concept of setting aside acreage for an environmental education facility is
meritorious and should become an approved component of the project,

c. The concept of setting aside acreage for an open-space arboretum for public
education and enjoyment is meritorious and should become an approved
component of the project.

Given its unique expertise and experience, the Alameda County Agricultural Fair
Association respectfully offers to provide to the City of Pleasanton technical
assistance as deemed appropriate,

Response:
Comment acknowledged,

C 28 Comment:
As was the case with the City's PUD 99-05 (Summerhill Homes-Nowland Ranch) and
other new development around the Fairgrounds, it is respectfully requested that
appropriate disclosure statements be developed to inform any potential tenant or
owners that may become associated with this project, of activities and operations of

24
