live at 3750 Cameron Ave

Page I of2

Marion Pavan

From: Maria Hoey
Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2006 9:29 AM
To: Marion Pavan; Donna Decker
Subject: FW: selway leghman city council letter 6-14-06

rom: Matt and Cheryl [mailto:mlawer1@comcast.net]
ent: Wednesday, June 14, 20064:41 PM
'0: Michael Roush; Mayor and City Council
c: 'Matt and Cheryl'
ubject: selway leghman city council letter 6-14-06

UC 50 comments frorn an upstanding local neighborhood family that is directly impacted by the 3 years of
onstruction and the lifetime of inconveniences of the project.

live at 3750 Cameron Ave. in Pleasanton and our home is directly across from the heart of the property known as Ponderosa
omeslSelway/Lehman property. I have a wife and 3 daughters ages 5, 6 and 8 years old. They all will be attending Mohr
lementary school in the fall. We all love our home location and feel fortunate to live where we do. The following is of my opinion:

ince we are at the center of the property we should be given a great deal of weight and consideration for our feedback,
Jmments and desires of the property. I have let the planning commission know this and the planning department as well via the
ublic meetings where I have spoke, and through letters to them. It is of my opinion that I am not being taken seriously on some
sues because of the feedback that I get from some of the people involved in the projects.

'ne of the biggest concerns that I have that just keeps on getting shrugged off without a satisfying answer or reply is concerning
ur insistence to not have to live on a 4 way intersection: which would be Cameron Ave. and Equestrian Ave. and Proposed
treet 'A'. My wife and I do not want to live with this new intersection. It is logical that a guess of say 90% of the traffic of the 28
Jmes proposed will exit onto or pass in ftont of our home since everyone who moves into these homes will have business west
f here. Our way of life will change forever. The planning departments comments are that it was drawn that way, it makes sense to
:commodate outside neighborhoods regardless of what the core neighborhood look and feel is and that there is too much
lomentum to stop it; sorry but too bad. I think that this is an ignorant decision by the city and screws me over seriously.

nother concern is that we don't want sidewalks on Cameron Avenue. Our pocket of neighbors signed a letter and gave it to the
anning commission at last meeting on this PUC 50. Planning department says the same thing as above. The residents, who live
est of our neighborhood, complain about us using their streets to get to school yet choose to use our streets to commute there.
Ir. Greeley of Palmer Avenue complained to me just the other day about our neighbor using his streets as a commute path but
3t, he did not want to change his decision to take the same existing route to school with sidewalks. I would categotize this type of
3havior as hard headed and stubborn and the further spearheading of a selfish effort accordingly, to ruin the look and feel of our
3ighborhood forever, should be ignored because of it. The route is available with sidewalks already but; let's change the look and
el of this other neighborhood for good because we ate unwilling to walk "that other" way. I think that this is another ignorant
3cision by the city which seriously screws over this neighborhood.

ow about tearing out the little piece of sidewalk on Cameron Avenue by Palmer Avenue so that there doesn't need to be a
lIlnection of the outside neighborhoods to the Cameron Avenue neighborhood. That street barrier at this location needs to go
lck in and pronto! No cars on Cameron means a safer street and cut through traffic goes somewhere else. I'd be willing to drive
1 extra minute or two and live with the tradeoffs of to local traffic to keep what I have. Then, maybe, you don't have to curve
ameron as well. Think about it: $500 for some drive over reflector cones or $500,000 for a new street. It's a good point.

10ther issue that I have is that Ponderosa's Ironwood project is not even complete and the traffic impacts of that tract have not
Jen felt by our neighborhood yet since none of the impending homes burp out on to our neighborhood's streets yet. Furthermore,
lU have a school that you want to build over there? The school idea seems like a farce since a high school needs 25 acres and
at area held fot a school is only 10 acres. The answer is more houses-right? Cameron Avenue screwed once again with cut
rough traffic. I think that the city is ignorant again in granting a near future project start date until the "Ironwood and high school"
ojects are completely constructed and traffic is fully understood.

lother issue is that there remains a great deal of animosity and separation, and many hurt feelings have been created placing
lighbothood to neighborhood and neighbor to neighbor because of this project. I do not think that I will live to see the end of
ese feelings created by the city's decisions. To me, that is a shame.

'22/2006
