It is
Agenda Item 6b, Case # PAP-95. Our project was originally approved by the Zoning Administrator back in
March, but was appealed by our neighbors and the appeal was upheld by the Planning Commission. We thus
appealed the Planning Commission's decision, since we feel it was completely without basis. We have also had
subsequent discussions with two of the objecting neighbors, in a mediation process managed by Jerry Iserson and
Mary Roberts (who graciously volunteered to assist with this dispute). We have come to an agreement with one

neighbor, yet we anticipate one or two others will continue their opposition at the meeting on the 17th. Therefore,
in the interest of ensuring you have an appropriate understanding of our proposal and the source of these
objections, we are inviting you to come to our home for a very short (10 minute) site visit. We have story poles
set up to help you visualize the nature of our proposal and feel it would be extremely important for you to come
see our home, and our neighborhood, to assess the situation first hand.

We feel that this decision you will be asked to make is not only very important to our family, and to our
neighborhood, but also to all property owners in Pleasanton. As the city approaches build-out, the need to expand
and enhance existing properties will continue to grow, and very localize opposition will continue to challenge the
validity of the municipal code simply on the grounds of "not in my backyard". I am sure you are very familiar
with this all too common conflict in any growing community.

We can be very flexible to your availability and propose that you suggest a time that works best given your busy
schedule. Below is a map to our home. Again, we are only 2 minutes from downtown and a 10 minute visit
should be sufficient for you to take in the situation. We of course, have invited each of your fellow council
members as well.

We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.

Sincerely,

Stan and Stacey Knight

10/9/2006
