Ms. Dennis felt there was sufficient interest from the community that the discussions on
the school impact fee agreement would be heavily attended. She felt it was appropriate to have
the workshop as part of the process.

Mayor Tarver said the School Board was agreeable to holding a workshop.

Ms. Michelotti said there is an initial meeting held for member orientation and felt that
might be the appropriate time to hold the workshop.

Mr. Roush said some of the information that is initially presented is refined to reflect
reality. He had a concem that if the first time the information is heard is at a joint workshop, the
information may not be as accurate as it is after the committee has had a chance to review it. He
felt it would be more productive for the public, if the committee had a chance to prepare a
presentation.

Ms. Acosta agreed, reviewing the information ahem of time gives staff time to clarify the
numbers and facts.

Ms. Dennis said the community wants to be part of that process. In order for the final
product to be credible, the public needs to be involved.

Ms. Acosta said the process would only create a first draft and then the public could be
involved.

Mayor Tarver agreed staff could draft a first report and then the workshop could go into
how the numbers are generated.

Ms. Dennis wanted the public involved.

Mayor Tarver said when he was first involved on the Liaison Committee he was shocked
at the fact the numbers indicated the middle school would be done by now, and yet it has been
delayed two years. He hoped a public forum would clarify the exact plan and how it would be
executed.

Ms. Michelotti felt it would be appropriate to discuss this with the Liaison Committee to
create a first draft and then go through the public process.

Mayor Tarver said things are discussed at the subcommittee meetings that no one hears.

Ms. Acosta would like staff to look at the demographers information to clean up any
errors.

Pleasanton City Council 19 03/16/99
Minutes
