Mayor Tarver shared the concern about getting through this process as quickly as
possible, but did not care if it rook 24 months, so long as there was adequate public input.

Ms. Michelotti then referred to the golf coarse which is m be included in Phase l
plan and did not see it addressed in the staffreport.

Mr. Pico clarified the issue had been to look at general design issues to see ira
golf course was feasible and whether some alteration in housing locations was necessary.
That was to provide for the possibility of a golf course, not to design it.

Ms. Acosta indicated that review is occnrring parallel with this process. Staff is
endeavoring to retain a golf course architect. Those comments would be referred to the
Park and Recreation Commission and the Golf Course Committee.

Ms. Michelutti just wanted clarification that that was occurring.

Mr. Pico also wanted the process accelerated but not at the expense of the project.
It must meet the expectations of the community and include all necessary input, possibly
even a vote on the project. He felt two years would provide flexibility to do that.

Ms. Michelutti did not see any need to have a vote on the community park.

Ms. Ayala asked if she could make another appointment to the San Francisco
Task Force, since her prior appointment was one of the people who had moved out of
town.

Mayor Tarver pointed oat that Jennifer Hosterman was running for Council and
wondered how that would affect the Committee. Perhaps that would be a moot point
after the election.

Ms. Ayala inquired if it were still necessary to have a representative from the East
Bay Regional Park District, since there are fewer acres of open space now.

Ms. Acosta felt the District should make the decision.

Mr. Wolfe clarified that with regard to the community park, staff would contact
each organization to get a representative and the at-large members would be selected by
Council from applications to be presented to staff.

It was moved by Mr. Pico, seconded by Ms. Miehelotti, to accept the staff
recommendations, except that with regard to the community park planning process,
one at-large member is to be deleted, and the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council
representative is to be retained and an additional member from the Sports Council
is to be added, for a total membership of thirteen.

Pleasanton City Council 10 09/19/00
Minutes
