Environmental Protection Agency, who indicated about a year and a half ago the Commuter
Choice Leadership Initiative welcomed its first employer partner. Now there are over 1,300
outstanding corporate partners who are qualified members. As a result of this program, the list
of Bay Area's best work places was launched. She presented the 2002 awards to the City of
Pleasanton, the Hacienda Business Park Owners Association, and PeopleSoft, three of the seven
Pleasanton companies that made the list as the Bay Area's best work places for commuters. The
four companies that could not attend the meeting were California Indemnity Insurance, PayChex,
ProBusiness, and Penske Truck Leasing. These employers represent the best of environmental
cooperation. The partnership helps reduce the impact of cars on the environment, while saving
time and money for commuters. If half of the commuters in the United States were working for
employers like this, it would be the equivalent of taking 15 million cars off the road.

Lisa Adamos described the Spare the Air Program and indicated there are thirty
companies who participate in the notification network. She recognized four of those companies
and the Mayor presented commendations to AT&T, the Hacienda Business Park Owners
Association, Savant Technology Group, and Zenith Insurance Company.
