Mayor Pico clarified that the edge of the apron of the bowl would be at the same distance
from the fence as the roller hockey area. If that cannot be accomplished in the redesign, then the
beginners bowl would be eliminated.

Mr. Campbell was not considering the $170,000 as compared to the total cost of the park.
He considered the $170,000 on its own, which is a lot of money.

Mr. Brozosky said when one actually sees how close the facility is to the neighbors, it is
surprising.

Mayor Pico believed Council was aware it was spending additional money, but he
believed there was a real question as to whether the neighborhood was aware of the height of this
facility. He observed the site and agreed that the element needed to be lowered.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Brozosky, Hosterman, and Mayor Pico
NOES: Councilmember Campbell
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

There was a break at 10:00 p.m.

The meeting reconvened at 10:10 p.m.

Item 6b
Modification of the Vineyard Corridor Neighborhood Traffic Calming Plan (SR 03:033)

Councilmembers Hosterman and Campbell own property within 500 feet of the area in
question and therefore recused themselves from participating in this item.

Jeff Knowles presented the staff report.

Mr. Brozosky inquired about painting before the overlay on Vineyard. He noted there is
more construction to be done in that area and asked how the timing of all this would be
scheduled?

Mr. Knowles said the painting would be done before the sewer line is installed, but he
would confirm the location with Public Works first.

Mayor Pico had thought the sewer line would connect farther out.

Mr. Knowles said the line would go all the way to Bernal.

Pleasanton City Council 15 02/04/03
Minutes
