Relevant On-Call Re/atlonsh/ps
In addition to our on-call work for the City of Pleasanton, the assigned staff maintain on-call relationships with:
• Antioch Orinda
• Concord • Pittsburg
• Contra Costa County • State Route 4 Bypass Authority
• Moraga
Services provided range from travel demand forecasting/modeling, detailed traffic operations analyses using
micro-simulation (Synchro/SimTrafffic, VISSIM, and CORSIM), transportation impact analyses, bicycle and
pedestrian facility planning and design, signing and striping plans, and traffic signal design plans, specifications,
and estimates.
OTHER RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
The following are examples of other traffic engineering and transportation planning services that we offer
including parking structure evaluation, traffic calming plans, pedestrian and bicycle plans, and transit oriented
development.
John Muir Medical Center (JMMC) Parking Structure (Walnut Creek)
Fehr & Peers was retained by Watry Design to conduct engineering services for the proposed John Muir Medical
Center (JMMC) Master Plan. The following tasks were conducted for this project:
• A review of trip-making characteristics of the EIR Master Plan project was made to determine if the
current plan would generate more or less traffic than the EIR.
• An evaluation of the JMMC parking ratio was conducted to determine appropriate parking demand. Fehr
& Peers used available information including existing building size and use, annual JMMC parking
surveys, and traffic/parking data.
• Traffic and parking data was collected at the JMMC facilities to develop parking accumulation curves.
These curves were then adapted to assist in the design of the planned parking structure(s).
• Trip-making curves representing existing JMMC vehicle flow levels were developed to help in confirming
the peak-hour trip generation. These curves also identified peaking characteristics of the JMMC build-out
for purposes of evaluating parking access operations and sizing internal circulation roads.
• Projections for a New Master Plan were prepared.
• Parking and trip-making curve were adjusted to estimate build-out traffic flow and parking characteristics
for the project site.
• Lane configurations and traffic controls were determined, including on-site circulation roads, parking
areas, and site access roads.
• Performed site layout review to address transportation circulation needs.
Fehr & Peers is currently working the John Muir Health to prepare the traffic engineering plans, specifications,
and estimates for the off-site and site access improvements. In addition, Fehr & Peers is providing construction
support evaluating roadway and intersection operations during construction and assisting in the traffic handling
and control.
developed by the City of Oakland. The Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (CMA) Travel Demand
Model was the main tool used to forecast future intersection volumes, freeway volumes, and transit ridership.
